Tuesday

This is my squadron picture from my first year in cadets... can you spot me in the crowd???

It's Tuesday again... I was working with the cadets tonight and me and the other level 2 Training Officer had a motivation meeting with our level 2 cadets. It was mostly about discipline and we had a good conversation with them about "why" we have discipline and "why it is important". We also talked to them about the possibility of taking them for a tour of a US Air Force Base next year and why we would only be able to take cadets that would be good representatives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets since we would not want to leave the Americans with a bad impression of our cadets. We had a drill class right after that and the kids looked great so it seemed to get them excited again and working as a team.

When I was an air cadet we went on a tour every year except my first year... We went to CFB MooseJaw to see the snowbirds my second year, Malmstrom AFB in Montana the third year, Victoria to tour Royal Roads Military Academy my fourth year (I was lucky that I got to go since I got kicked off CFB Penhold two months earlier and kicked right out of cadets... but they missed me and decided I could come back the week before we went on tour... I hadn't got my new kit yet so I didn't even have to wear a uniform for the whole tour!), and I went on an exchange to Quebec City my fifth year... I have to admit that I probably was not a shining example for the Royal Canadian Air Cadets on ANY of those trips!

There were a couple of promotions tonight so all of the officers headed out to Moxie's afterwards for a few celebration beverages. It was a nice chance to chat and get to know a few of the other officers in the squadron... fun times to be had by all :)

Time For Work

I have decided that I really like Monday mornings off! I procrastinate cleaning up the house, doing laundry, and generally getting anything done all weekend long and on Monday morning (if I have it off) I get super motivated to get it all done at the last minute.

That is what I have done all morning. I got two loads of laundry done, cleaned the living room, vacuumed, got all the dishes done, cleaned the gross litterbox, and even gave the cats new food and water... pretty productive if I say so myself!

I am starting at 2pm today since I am currently training a new group of crisis line volunteers. I love when I am training since I get to go to a late work week (2pm-10pm) instead of the early (9am-5pm) schedule I have to keep when I am recruiting and interviewing volunteers. I am really not a morning person and usually end up staying up until at least 3-4am even when I am getting up at 8am... it gets really painful after awhile.

My movie weekend was fun but I am now dealing with the consequences of downloaded so much data from the internet... I have 17 virus's and 2 programs have hijacked my browser so I am having tons of fun trying to fix that up this morning as well :(
(I can't get into google at all and had to be creative in order to get my blogger up since the hijack won't recognize that address either!!!) Fun times I tell you... but now I must get ready for work!!!

Almost Famous

Texas Music

I am like so excited right now!. I was reading all my favorite blogs and spotted that Jack from Texas Music (which is by far my absolute FAVORITE blog in the whole world- especially now that T.J. dropped off the face of the earth) put a link up to my blog!!!

It is pretty cool... I almost feel like I exist in the blog world now (and it made me realize that I've been posting about the cats WAY too much... I need more real people in my life!)

Thank you Jack! You made my day!!! :)

Movie Mania

So far this weekend I have downloaded and watched The Day After Tomorrow, The Cat In The Hat, My Boss's Daughter, How High, Freaky Friday and School Of Rock...

I have been trying to download a few more but so far these are the one's tht have worked. I downloaded Mean Girls twice but both times the file didn't work :(

The only movies I have really enjoyed so far are Day After Tomorrow which was so so (I had to watch it twice because I fell asleep the first time) and Cat In The Hat was pretty funny... I'm gonna go try to find Garfield!

Another Weekend

Not too much happening this weekend... the cats spent most of the weekend watching their video over and over again.

They changed positions a few times when they got tired but pretty much both stayed on the coffee table the entire time the video is on... it is a real hit so thank you Susan for lending it to me (I promise to bring it back Monday!) .

Maxx went after the bird on the television a few times but they were both pretty much happy checking them out from the coffee table.

It was also my final class at the University today :(

My classmate Julie snapped this picture while me and my group were up presenting our final presentation. It is a bit blurry but it shows what a good time we were having up there. Gail actually just discovered Julie sitting there with the camera and ran away so we are all laughing. I will kind of miss going there every Wednesday! I was just starting to get used to it. I think I mentioned it before but if not I will say again that my Commanding Officer from when I was in Air Cadets happened to be in the class and it was really neat to "meet him" again under different circumstances now that I am (kind of) grown up. He is someone that I gave a REALLY hard time to when I was a kid but who I learned ALOT from and admired alot so as I said it was neat to meet him again!

Fun Times For Maxx and Jaike

My most excellent friend Susan from work lent me the "Video Catnip" she got for her lil cat called Monkey and as you can see Maxx and Jaike really enjoyed their movie this morning. It's pretty funny watching the cats watching their movie so I really do recommend it to any cat owners out there!

(Susan I will get this back to you in just a few days - I can see how Monkey might get depressed without it! I just HAVE TO show this to my sister and let her cats try it out!)

Finally....

I got the living room cleaned up so I am feeling much better now...

Got to get off to work though or I'm gonna be late :)

What A Mess!

My living room is a mess!

I keep on trying to clean it up but it is not helping and not working... it is just a constant mess!

I have WAY too much furniture in here so it feels dark and cramped and I hate it. I think that I live in an area smaller than a single wide trailer... it is long and narrow and there is no where to put anything and I think it is the stupidest lay out in the world...

The next house I buy is going to be very different... with square rooms instead of rectangles... and you won't be looking at a toilet when you open the front door...

The Classy Corner

It looks like 211 has a new uniform... it is fancy black pants and really nice black striped shirts!

Not much else going on today. I had an assignment that I had to get done for tomorrow... it is done but it took way longer to do then I had anticipated.

That's all folks :)

It's Election Day!!!

I did get out and vote and I took this picture for another blog project I am working on. I am going to try to take one picture everyday for a year and then make a little booklet of it. I will problably make the booklet from January 01 2005 to December 31 2005... I'll probably be really original and name my book 2005 :)

I need your opinions... Do you think that I should keep the cheesy date stamp in the corner or take it off??? and since it is voting day (well the day after by the time people read this) please leave vote in comments...

Other than that not alot going on today... a new training group started at work and they look like a good bunch... alot of new staff in the group which makes it a little different anyways...

Night Maxx...

I spotted Maxx sleeping on the couch and he made me laugh. He stretches right out when he sleeps... I thought I would share it for all.

Night Maxx...

The Weekend Went Fast

Genitta and Tavis got into the Christmas spirit and decorated the front of the house all day. It looks great and is sure bright when you walk up!

I rented a PS2 station and San Andreas all weekend and got addicted. I stayed up all night playing (literally until 10am this morning) and then the fucking game froze. I am soooo mad cause I don't have a stupid memory card and I lost the whole thing and can't even continue where I left off today... oh well.

Avery asked me to come over a few times this weekend as well so I headed over tonight with a few of my old games for him to try to load on his new computer. I found both boys in the computer room of course!

The first game loaded and looked like it was going to work but it would not run :(

It is because all of my old games are Win 98 and he has Win 2000 so if any of you out there have any games that you are sick of that run on Win 2000 let me know... poor Avery has again been left gameless!

Jordie was happy that Avery was distracted loading games on the computer downstairs and enjoyed at least twenty minutes playing games on the computer upstairs uninteruppted!... It was very short lived though Avery took over once we discovered the games were not going to work downstairs.

And finally I visited Craig the Caveman in the garage. He has a new outfit that he can wear while working out there... in fact I think it may make it possible for him to live out there...

$ $ $

I went to the bank and refinanced my mortgage. I think I got a pretty good deal... I signed in for 7 years at 6.0%. It is costing me $1350 which is a portion of my original cash back but I got them to waive the $1500 fee to refinance the mortgage AND they gave me a line or credit which they are going to take the $1350 from AND another $5000 visa which I really don't need but he felt I needed since the rate was way better than my other visa's.

Oh yeah and the banker said that I have the best credit rating that he has seen in a long time... that is kind of funny considering I still had creditors calling me a few months ago about my Alberta Health Debt!

So I guess I am rich right now but it's not money I have just money I can borrow... still nice to think that I COULD go buy a new car if I wanted to!!!

I Want Real Food :(

Yipee it's Friday and I am taking the day off...

I am getting pretty sick of oatmeal, brown rice, carrots, cucumbers, and eggs and I am ready for some variety of food! Therefore I am VERY happy that this little cleansing mission is coming to an end tomorrow!!

I felt fine yesterday and today is alright as well so I am glad that at least the feeling like crap part is over... and this really better be worth it!

I just did the dishes and I think that I am going to try to gt the futon frame up the stairs some time today. I'll call my brother Kent to see if he can help but if not I will have to turn get inventive and find a way for me to get it up the stairs myself... and hopefully not kill or injure myself too badly. I'm just hoping that I don't get it halfway up and get stuck cause I don't know how many hours I will be left before someone comes and saves me... maybe I should stick the cordless phone in my back pocket just in case... anyways I am off to evaluate the mission and set up a plan!

If I am successful I will post a picture of the new living room set up... if I am not than I won't!

Morley

I went to Morley with Erin today in order to set up a display booth for their wellness fair and sobriety week.

On the way up there we saw a whole bunch of mountain sheep (I got out of the car and they ran away up the street). Erin says that they are "in a rut" or "rutting" which means that they are all horny and wanting to mate...

It was a pretty good day, the traffic at the fair was a little bit slow but everyone was really friendly and it was really nice to get out of the city and see some grass, hills and mountains for a change!

That's It... We're Going On The Tea!

This is the crash pad that I have transformed my living room into...

So me and Nav at work have decided to go on the tea due to Genitta's great comment (see it really is worth it to leave comments... my whole readership gets to benefit from all of your opinions and advise... another reason why you really should be leaving comments!).

There is Green Tea at work and it is totally worth switching over for the benefits it provides.

Day Four of Mission Lean and Clean was a little harsh I have to say! It was going really good but I started to get a headache in the middle of the day (I've only had headaches at night previously) and it got bad like a migrane so I decided to take two advil's. I was doing a supervision shift on the crisis lines and Bonny who said to me "That's not very herbal" and I replied "I can have it... it didn't say no advil"... well I was wrong. The headache stayed and I started feeling very very ill. I finished off the shift, debriefed very briefly with my volunteer and then said "I hate to run off but now I must go to the bathroom" and I puked.

Luckily is wasn't to much or too gross... and after that I started to feel much better... This is supposed to be the plateau day and the last three days instead of feeling like shit I am supposed to feel even better than before... I can't wait!

( ... did you know that movie detective Dirty Harry's badge number is 2211. That is almost like 211! )

Lean and Clean Day Three

Well it is the beginning of day three and I'm not the healthy and happiest person on the planet yet! Last night was the worst so far... I worked until 10pm and began to get a headache by about 8:30pm.

By the time I got home the headache was thumping so I avoided all games on the computer and headed to the futon cushion on the floor to watched General Hospital.

I really, really miss my futon couch and HATE laying on my new grey couch... so on Sunday I dragged my futon cushion up the stairs (it weighs a ton and it almost killed me) but I need help getting the frame up the stairs. It'll be a few weeks of the house looking like a big crash pad until I get the futon frame upstairs and the big grey couch downstairs in the spare room where it will live and rot away for the rest of it's days (or until I move and want to use it as a "fancy" sit only couch). I'll have to add a picture so you can all see what I'm taking about...

Anyways so last night was the worst so far since beginning the cleanse, after watching tv, I headed to bed early and had nightmares all night long. At one time I woke up and remember dreaming that Kelly was over at the house and killed my neighbors cat, causing my neighbor to hunt after my cats trying to kill them. I was hysterical screaming and freaking out about everything that was going on in my dream and then I woke up very thirst, sweaty, and my hair was all curly! I woke up again and was having another nightmare but the details are fuzzy. It was It was all kind of severe and I woke up annoyed and cranky!

I am at work now and feeling much much better. I am having my one allowed cup of coffee and savoring it! After this I will go and do reference checks for new volunteers and call around for volunteer donations... fun day to be had by all!

Leaner and Cleaner

I am doing a "cleanse" to try to get rid of some of the toxins in my body. I started it today and the picture above is of my veggie filled lunch with tons of fruit I will consume this week behind it... this along with some herbal medicine should clean my body!

It was suggested to me a few months back by my friend Erin at work and I have only now gotten around to trying it. I have been feeling like crap lately and am hoping this will help. I have to follow a diet while I am doing the cleansing which consists of pretty much rice, oats, fruits and lots of different veggies. I read in the pamphlet that I might feel crappy for the first three days (I have a headache right now) but the last three days I will feel way better and I should come out feeling... leaner and cleaner!

Thanks To My New Volunteers!

A new group of volunteers graduated last Saturday. During training they found out that I love cats and they bought a few treats for my two rugrats at home. Maxx and Jaike loved all the treats but the honeysuckle wood was definitely the favorite of the bunch!

Thanks you so much for the treats from

Me, Maxx, and Jaike!!!

Lest We Forget

It's important to take some time out today and remember...

For many years I would remember my Grandpa Buzz on Rememberance Day since he was the only person I knew who had passed away.

I have a few more names I can add onto the list now but I still take time out on this day to remember Grandpa Buzz and all the others who have moved on from my world.

It is also a day to pay respect to those who have gone off to fight and defend our country... too many died to young and we need to remember... for if we do not remember we are bound to repeat.

I'm Home... I'm Home

I am home now, and I promised Jenna I would post and put up a few more pics from Friday night. I had to stop off at Shiela's on the way home and give Oliver his second insulin shot of the day. That is 2 days done and 2 more to go!

I am working tomorrow MORNING and I am really not tired so that may be shitty... I guess we will see?

Here are a few more good one's for you Jenna!

(don't forget to comment... cause I never get any comments and it makes me sooooo sad)
(except I know you will comment Jenna cause you left a nice comment yesterday!!)
(all you other blog visitors who never comment should comment!!!!!!!)

Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is Doug screaming in all these pictures???

Too much Susan! Too much!

Monday, November 08, 2004

and then it was Monday...

Well the weekend is over and it is back to Monday. It's been a busy day which hasn't been to bad because it is really flying by. I am working a phone room shift tonight with Susan (she's the fun one in the office remember) and we have already had a good laugh tonight so it should be pretty painless!

My friend Shiela is gone for a few days again so I am back on Oliver duty running down there to give him his insulin shots twice a day. I am going to be really careful and not overdose him this time because the last time I did overdose him and it really wasn't much fun for anyone involved!

I'm going to go and do a few reference checks, maybe call around for donations for our banquet, and do some more work... Susan wants me to stay until midnight for her and I think I'm going to do it... she says she will help me get my "unfun" work done in return- what a pal I tell ya... what a pal!

Happy Birthday Kelly Janzen

Today is one of my best friend's Birthday!

Kelly is turning 36 (and aging quite well). For his birthday I'm posting one of my favorite pictures that came from one of my favorite days in my whole life.

This is a picture from the first year I met Kelly. He had just arrived in Calgary and was living on my good friend (and Kelly's cousin) Geoff's couch. He was a red neck from Winnipeg and I was a young punk in college. It had to have been around 1993 so Kell was 25/26 and I was 19/20. The gang which consisted of Geoff, Brenda, Me and Kell decided to drive up to Banff for the day. The boys were gonna jump into one of the lakes (it was way too early in like April/May or something and they almost died of hypothermia), me and Brenda filmed them jumping in and then we went up the gondola for awhile. I think I had a broken ankle or something as well but I can't remember. We stopped for ice cream, Kelly almost got bitten by a road goat that he tried to take a picture of, and on the way home Kelly was trying to hit on these chicks in a car passing ours and he wanted to borrow Brenda's lipstick to write his number on the window but she wouldn't let him. Kelly pouted away and then figured out another way to pass them his number... then Brenda pouted because he passed them his number! It was pretty funny and good times to be had for all. Wayne (my other best friend in the whole world) came over as soon as we got home and we had an awesome night hanging out. If I recall correctly I believe we ended up trying to smoke mushrooms, and joked around calling Kell a fucking fem all night cause it got him quite upset and it entertained us :). The whole time we filmed the day and me and Geoff cut a pretty cool video from the footage (I was in the Broadcasting program at the college at the time). Kell's key line in the whole video was... "I have been accepted... I am so happy".

Happy Birthday Kell! Hope it's a great 36!

Chris' Birthday Was A Blast!

We all went out for Chris's birthday tonight and it was the best time I have had in a long time!

Kudos go to Susan who organized it all and put it together for us... Great idea Susan!

The pictures speak for themselves :)

These are the dueling pianist... They are AWESOME!

We really have to get together and do this again!

A Visit From Kent

I'm enjoying a day off today and my brother Kent came by to show me his new guitar playing skills! I guess he has been learning off a guy on the internet and he is doing really good (I guess the guy told him he is picking it up much faster than anyone else he's ever met) so I guess he is a natural. The guitar he is using is my Grampa Buzz's. My Grandma Lil gave it to me many many years ago after he passed away... it is really nice to see that it is going to good use. Kent better take good care of it!

A New Update About A Whole Lot Of Nothing

It's Thursday... which is great because I have Friday's off until like Christmas so it is kind of like my Friday... except I work Saturday so it's not "really" a friday. Friday's kind of suck when I am training on Saturday's because it is the night that everyone goes out and the night I don't really feel like it cause I work super early on Saturday.

To go out or not to go out... it's kind of a catch 22 question. When I'm asked most of the time I don't feel like stoping what I am doing, getting ready and meeting everyone where they are at. I have realized that once in awhile you have to go out when invited because if you say no too many times then people stop inviting you and you lose the choice to go out... but it's a lot harder when you are alone and have to get motivated to get ready alone, and then drive by yourself where ever you go alone, and not drink everytime if you go far cause you are always the one driving home alone... Maybe I'll go out this weekend... and maybe not... I haven't decided...

I can't believe it's November

It's kind of weird because the days seem so long but the weeks and months are flying by faster and faster each year. It's November... the snow is back... and before I blink it's gonna be Christmas!
