Then The Snow Came...

It started snowing last night and it still hasn't stopped... it's getting dark and it's getting cold... I really dread this time of year.

I'm just going to go to bed...

Everybody's Moving

It's true...

Everyone is leaving me! Genitta and Tavis moved away to Richmond and now Ronaye, Craig and my godboys put their house up the street up for sale and say they are moving to Airdrie :(

I was looking thru my videos and found this one of me, Genitta, Tav, Kent, Craig and the kids all out hanging in the field between mine and Genitta's house and Ronaye, Craig and the kids house... I really am going to miss all my neighbors.

The video is pretty long (6mins) but is a good watch if you have time.

Beautiful Day

It's a beautiful day... they say we may make record highs at over 18C!

This is Genitta's (well I guess now Rob's) bird feeder... it was very active and got Jaike's attention right away...

I also rigged the cat pen door open and let Ben go out to explore for the first time today it was quite an experience for him :)

Jaike went for his own run for an hour outside while Ben played around in the pen.

To Edmonton...

It was a REALLY early morning today! I got up at 6am and headed off for a 10am meeting in Edmonton. It was still pretty dark and cloudy this morning when I set off.

By the time I got to Red Deer it has got quite a bit brighter... I had a bit of fun chasing this train for about five minutes...

And I finally made it to Edmonton at about 10 minutes to 10... I thought I was going to be totally late since my meeting was downtown on Jasper Ave but traffic had really died down so I was only about 5 minutes late.

I passed by the legislative building where out Premier and MLA's hang out when I ws headed out of Edmonton and back to Calgary so I thought I'd snap a picture :)

And being Tuesday I was delighted to see the golden arches when I finally made it to Airdrie which is just outside of Calgary... I enjoyed a $2 Big Mac for dinner and then headed to cadets!

Weekend of Cats

I really didn't do much of anything this weekend... just pretty much hung out and played with the cats...

Benji is pretty precious... he really really likes Jaike and wants to be everywhere and do everything with him. This week he is finally finding his little meow... when Jaike run outside he just sits by the back door and meows for him to come back, and he also used it to let me know he is excited when treats are coming out!

He is still really tiny and fits into the weirdest places... but he thinks that he is full grown and should be allowed to do everything that Jaike does.

All in all he is really settling in nicely :)

Remeberance Day

Lest we forget...

I tried to go to a rememberance day ceremony at the Legion this morning... and well I did end up going and even took Avery and Jordan with me... but we got kicked out!

It was a really crappy deal really... I was asked to go to the legion with a few of the cadets for their rememberance day ceremony. We got there early and they had sent all the air, army and navy cadets to this little room in the back of the legion to watch a ceremony on TV!

I had asked my two godsons if they wanted to wake up early and come with me to see the ceremony at the legion since they had never been before and had never spoke to a veteran. I was really happy when they were both really excited to go, I think it's really important to get the youth involved in the ceremonies since we must remember if we do not want to repeat the mistakes of the past and every year the crowds at the ceremonies get older and older.

So I wasn't too impressed that they were sticking all the youth that did show up in a back room to watch the ottawa celebrations on tv instead of letting them experience the ceremonies going on in the main lodge. I took the boys on a mini tour of the legion and for a washroom break before the ceremonies got started.

It was probably the best part of the whole ceremony. The kids saw pictures of all the soldiers from Calgary who had gone away for world war I and world war II... they both thought the people in the pictures looked really young, like high school students. They also got to see many different metals and memorabilia from the two world wars. We heard bagpipes playing in the mail lodge as the ceremonies started to get under way so we thought we would poke our heads in and take a look...

Well they closed off a wall behind us and locked us into the main lodge... we tried to leave the main area and found ourselves locked out! The door to the back area where they were keeping the cadets was locked and some grumpy vet would not let us back into the building. He said that no non members were allowed in until after 12pm and that Avery could not come back in cause he was wearing jeans. I told him we were there with the cadets but he wouldn't budge... so we left and ended up watching the ceremonies at Genitta's!

Getting Comfy

Well Benji is getting way more comfortable with everything this week.

Ben really likes Jaike and wants to follow him around where ever he goes. Jaike has started to sit on Ben and chews on the scruff of his neck to show him whose boss... but Benji doesn't seem to mind so I don't think he is hurting him.

Ben also really likes to sit in front of me while I play on the computer and tries to "catch" the mouse arrow as it goes by... that could be very annoying once he gets bigger and obstructs the whole computer monitor!

When The Bosses Are Away...

The staff will play!

All of our directors, managers, and supervisors went off on a retreat today so we decided to take a break and have a bit of fun.

We set up a little bowling alley using old pop cans and Distress Centre Stress balls...

Got a few participants and spectators gathered...

And the competition was on!

It took me a while to get the hang of it...

but then finally I got the winning strike!

Fun times for all!

David also had some fun today making snowflakes...

And Jenna had fun wearing them!

Benji's A Parrot

I'm not sure what it is but Benji has decided that his favorite place in the whole world is sitting on my shoulder like a parrot... he will sit up there for hours while I am on the computer and just purr away.

If I take him off and put him down he runs right back up my body and positions himself right back on my shoulder... I'm hoping he outgrows it or that could be really uncomfortable for me in a few months!
