Last Weekend in January

The senior cadets had their annual mess dinner this weekend at the Kensington Legion. Colonel Codner who is the Detachment Commander of the cadets came as our guest speaker and entertained the kids all night with many stories from his career in the Armed Forces.

It was busy around the house this weekend as well!

The renovation project continued. We got past the halfway point so next weekend we should be able to finish it off and renovations will be done!

Since we were making such a racket upstairs the cats spent most of their time hiding downstairs in my room or hanging out in the cat pen.

Jaike was out for about half the day so Ben was pretty happy when I got him inside and he joined him in the pen :)

And that's what I did this weekend...

Happy B-Day G!

Today is my sister Genitta's 33rd birthday, and in a few more days she will be welcoming her first child into this world!

MY SISTER

She knows the things I dream of,
the places that I've been,
she accepts the person I've become,
she's a very special friend.

She's always been there for me
no matter where I roam,
and whenever we're together,
it's just like being home.

For happy times shared through the years,
for the loyalty, love,
the laughter and tears.
For the special things only you can do,
for all these things, I thank you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENITTA!!!!!

Another Farewell

If you have nothing good to say don't say nothing at all... so I haven't blogged in a while

There has been some good news as well. My dad (and my mom) have been over every weekend helping me to remove a huge closet, fix up my landing and starting this weekend we also started to install new wooden laminate floor upstairs. It looks awesome and it's going to be really nice to have everything spruced up. My dad has been doing all of the above work and my mom comes along to direct us and she has also been super helpful helping me to organize all of my stuff and to declutter... plus she spring cleaned my bathroom today and reorganized everything in there so that was really nice as well.

The bad news... well my godson called me at like 9pm on Sunday January 8th to tell me that they had been out to Saskatchewan for the weekend and that they were moving to Saskatoon in 12 days... 12 days!

At first I really didn't believe him and then when it was confirmed that this was indeed the plan my heart just sank... It felt like someone was constantly sitting on my chest for days and when I was alone driving around in my car I have to admit a few times I wept... but what can I do they are going to do what they're going to do. The U-Haul left yesterday morning and I already miss them more than I can say.

So I spent as much time with them as I could. I almost saw them everyday for the last twelve days and last weekend we had a farewell dinner at my Aunt's house.

Avery and Jordan got to hang out with Payten and we had a feastand a tour of my Aunt's new place. It was a nice visit with all the Shandlers!

I hope they come home soon...
