Things Are Looking Up

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!

Genitta had another ultrasound and an internal ultrasound and it looks like the baby does not have hydrocephalus. The spinal fluid is currently draining and the kidney seem to be working but we are still not out of the clear. I guess the ventricles in the brain are enlarged and there is a 10% chance that this could still cause complications and could lead to developing hydrocephalus or some other problems.

That leaves a 90% chance that the baby is going to be perfectly fine... I really am liking those odds!

We can't help think that a good portion of that goof news is a direct result of the love and good thoughts that have gone out in the last couple of days. Thanks to everyone who helped us all pull through!

Big Orange Pylon

I was trying to drive to a course last week but there was construction EVERYWHERE! Every route I tried was blocked and it left me very frustrated trying to find a way thru, a shortcut, just a way to get where I needed to get to. I didn't find my shortcut... I tried a few new routes, and stressed out a lot about having to walk in late... but every way I turned I was forced to creep along in my car...

I finally got to where I was going about fifteen minutes late... I saw my friend Erin and exclaimed "Holy Shit! It's like God just stuck a big orange pylon in front of my life today!". I was the second last to arrive. As luck would have it the instructor showed up an hour late so in the end my being fifteen minutes late didn't really matter.

My family had a huge orange pylon suddenly appear in front of our lives as well this week. My sister and her husband went for their second ultrasound on Tuesday morning and found out that they are probably carrying a beautiful baby girl (I guess the tech would not say for sure but said that it looks like a girl!). I'm pretty sure that my sister has been hoping for a girl so that was really great news, she called my mom who has been dying to find out the sex and they went out to buy some new pink clothing...

At the same time that I was fighting traffic on Wednesday morning, my sister got a call from the doctor... they need her to come in and take some more tests on Monday... there may be some complications... they think that the baby's spinal fluid is not draining properly... they think that it may be hydroceophalus. More tests are needed before we will know for sure what we are dealing with... I was not home until very late on Wednesday and Thursday so I got the news when I got home on friday evening.

It's been a really emotional weekend for all of us. I get upset when I see and hear how worried and upset my sister, my brother in law, and my parents are. It just doesn't seem right or fair for this big obstacle to be placed in front of this pregnancy. Everyone has been so excited, the first grandchild on both side... they have been so careful to do everything right... everyone is so excited... and now so worried, still excited, but worried about what this might be, where this new route may take them... hopefully they will find themselves exactly where they are supposed to be, and in the end the obstacle, while frustrating, will not have mattered and they will be exactly where they are supposed to be.

It has been really hard for Genitta and Tavis to have to wait until monday to get more testing done and to find out what is going on with their baby. Please take some time to send them prayers and good wishes. The three of them would really appreciate any love and thoughts that you can send.

Good Times With Great Friends

I was able to hang out with two of my great friends tonight... and well it was great!

Lyn is a really good friend (wife to one of my BEST friends Wayne) and she was in town this week for a few days working. She called me Monday night to see if I could come out and play but life got into the way and I wasn't able to meet up with her until tonight... I wish I would have gone out with her Monday and tonight because it was great to see her and just chat about anything and everything.

Another great part of the evening is that my other best friend in the world Kelly came out as well and I haven't really seen him in way to long either! Life took him in one direction and me in another and I didn't even realize how much I've missed him being around until I saw him. He looks great, sounds like he is doing great, and it was really a nice visit with them both.

I really hope we all do it again soon... maybe next time we'll even invite Wayne :)

Iris and Eric

My cousin Iris and her boyfriend Eric have been visiting from Holland. They arrived in Vancouver and rented a camper to drive out to Calgary for a visit.

They arrived on Friday night and on Saturday we had a nice visit both at my sister's house and then at my mom and dad's.

On Sunday my Uncle Jan treat us to dinner at Open Sesame. I had never been there before and it was really good! I was able to eat about half my meal and I was STUFFED! I packed up the left overs and had another full lunch today. As you can see from Eric's face he ate his whole bowl and a bit of Iris's and I think he was quite stuffed as well!

Well it's the Labor Day weekend which means that summer is pretty much over! I let the cats out extra long this weekend since they are going to be spending a lot more time inside once it get cold out there.

I also went out to dinner with my mom and dad, uncle Jan, sister Genitta, and new brother-in-law Tavis. (My Uncle Jan is very happy about being out for dinner)

My godboys came over and had a sleepover last night as well since it is the LAST day of holidays before school starts tomorrow...

And well we pretty much did this all night...

It was a great time... I just have to get motivates to clean my house... and I'll be ready for work tomorrow!
