Tuesday
It's Tuesday again... I was working with the cadets tonight and me and the other level 2 Training Officer had a motivation meeting with our level 2 cadets. It was mostly about discipline and we had a good conversation with them about "why" we have discipline and "why it is important". We also talked to them about the possibility of taking them for a tour of a US Air Force Base next year and why we would only be able to take cadets that would be good representatives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets since we would not want to leave the Americans with a bad impression of our cadets. We had a drill class right after that and the kids looked great so it seemed to get them excited again and working as a team.
When I was an air cadet we went on a tour every year except my first year... We went to CFB MooseJaw to see the snowbirds my second year, Malmstrom AFB in Montana the third year, Victoria to tour Royal Roads Military Academy my fourth year (I was lucky that I got to go since I got kicked off CFB Penhold two months earlier and kicked right out of cadets... but they missed me and decided I could come back the week before we went on tour... I hadn't got my new kit yet so I didn't even have to wear a uniform for the whole tour!), and I went on an exchange to Quebec City my fifth year... I have to admit that I probably was not a shining example for the Royal Canadian Air Cadets on ANY of those trips!
There were a couple of promotions tonight so all of the officers headed out to Moxie's afterwards for a few celebration beverages. It was a nice chance to chat and get to know a few of the other officers in the squadron... fun times to be had by all :)
