Busy Days

It has been a busy few days. After visiting with Siem and Rita on Wednesday we headed back to Poolland for a family bar-b-que.

All of my dad's brothers came over and Kent had to fight with my Uncle Henk over control of the beer :)

Dad was at home on the bar-b-que but he did think that the bar-b-que was a little different than his one at home.

Henk took control of the second bar-b-que and the cook off between the brother's Koomen was on!

The meal was absolutely FANTASTIC... Henk made his famous Greek salad, we had chicken sate, burgers, sausages, and salads galore!

After dinner Dad and his brother's sat down to watch a bit of football.

And then we all gathered together for the mandatory family photo (mom took the picture).

We were all up early on Thursday morning to see the parade at the Market in Schagen...

After our adventures at the market we headed to the indoor football stadium for the memorial game for my Uncle Hannes who passed away ten years ago. All of the Koomen boys made up one team and they played against Hannes' team.

My Cousins Nick and Bart and my Aunt Trudi came into Schagen from Texel to help out the team.

The game ended in a 4-4 tie. It was a really nice game and we got the two teams to pose for a picture afterwards :)

And once the game was over we all went and celebrated Hannes style!

Which brings us to today...

Today we headed to Den Helder to the Fort Kijkdein which is a fort built by Napolean.

There was a museum which covered the late 1800's when the fort was built all the way to Germany's occupation during WWII.

In the basement there was also an aquarium with some really nasty looking fish in it!

It was a pretty good day and as I said a busy few days... we have decided that we are going to drive down to Paris with the whole family so there should be some good updates to come!
